A new Halo Infinite leak of medals found in the game’s files suggests that more classic multiplayer modes like Infection and Griffball are on the way.
When the multiplayer for Halo Infinite launched, it had only a few game modes, but a new leak suggests that more classic modes may be on the way. Player concerns started way back in the beta, where many wondered why several classic Halo multiplayer features were missing, and to this day many have wondered where some old Halo staples are.
Halo Infinite had an interesting staggered launch, with the multiplayer launching for free almost a month before the campaign’s release. With that much extra time to focus entirely on the multiplayer, gamers have been able to find both the good and the bad aspects of it. Overall, the multiplayer has been viewed favorably, with many enjoying what new additions like the grapple bring to the game, but others have voiced their complaints with various parts of the multiplayer. There’s been some disagreement between those who play on Xbox and those who play on PC, leading some to go so far as disabling crossplay in Halo‘s multiplayer to have a purer experience with fewer hackers and cheaters. Even when the game is fair, though, some feel it needs more content. Those people may soon be getting their wish.
Dexerto expands upon a tweet from user HaloNoticiasMX which leaked 12 new medals hidden in Halo Infinite’s files. These medals hint at the coming inclusion of fan-favorite Halo game modes like Infection and King of the Hill since these medals feature designs and names that reference these modes pretty explicitly. For example, one medal, labeled “Interception,” features a ball design seen nowhere else in the game, likely alluding to the reappearance of Griffball. While these additions might place strain on Halo servers that are already having issues, they’ll give gamers more variety, which is sure to be appreciated by those who feel the multiplayer is lacking content.
There’s no telling for sure if the presence of these medals guarantees that their associated modes will, in fact, show up in Halo Infinite, and if so, when. As of writing, 343 Industries hasn’t commented on this discovery, so all players can do at this point is hope. However, 343 Industries has been busy adding new challenges and rewards to the multiplayer, such as the recent Slayer playlist with improved Halo challenges based on gamer feedback. It’s clear that 343 Industries listens to what the game’s fans have to say, and so if the fans want more game modes, it’s likely that they’ll get them, hopefully soon.
For a game claiming to be “infinite,” this Halo did ship with a more bare-bones multiplayer than some others in the franchise. And while the modes that are available are full of plenty of fun to have and silly glitches to exploit, gamers have been asking for more. With these new leaks, it looks like their hopes may soon be answered.
