Dabo Swinney held his weekly press conference on Tuesday to preview Georgia Tech (1-1, 0-0) visiting Death Valley on Saturday (3:30 p.m., ABC) to play the No. 6 Tigers (1-1. 0-0).
“Cannot believe it’s Week 3 already, that’s crazy,” Swinney said. “Seems like we were in fall camp yesterday. Excited about ACC play, we have seven straight conference games. The next goal is to win the division. That’s what’s in front of us. We know we have a lot of improving to do to be the type of team we want to be overall and in this league.
“Our next challenge is Georgia Tech and they are a much-improved team in all areas. They had kind of a crazy opener with Northern Illinois, which is a good program. That’s the danger of openers, you don’t know a lot about teams. I think Norther Illinois caught them off-guard from a schematic standpoint with some unbalanced sets and things that really hurt them. They went for two to win it, and it was a heartbreaker. But they bounced back this past week (vs. Kennesaw State) and played well.
“We get six days here at home this season, and to see it come to life is special. Got another one of those opportunities on Saturday and five more after tah. We are excited about having a great crowd and environment at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.”
