Everything MISSING from iPhone 13 launch as Apple fans mourn ‘lost gadgets’

APPLE’S big September event has come and gone – but not everything gadget fans wished for appeared.

A number of rumoured products weren’t unveiled at the special event.

There was plenty to enjoy with the iPhone 13, a new iPad and 2021 iPad Mini, and the Apple Watch 7.

But a few gadgets that were tentatively mooted for the big day didn’t appear.

Thankfully, Apple has previously held extra events in October or November – so there’s still hope.

Here’s what was “missing” from Apple’s September showcase, according to some gadget fans.

Apple AirPods 3

One of the biggest rumours was that a new pair of Apple AirPods was on the way.

This would be a revamped version of the entry-level AirPods, but with a new design.

They currently use the original 2016 exterior, but it was expected that Apple would release a new design that looks like the smaller (and pricier) AirPods Pro.

However, they would miss out on the noise-cancelling of the AirPods Pro, allowing for a lower price point.

New MacBook Pro

We’re also expecting new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models this year.

These beefy screen sizes would reportedly be made possible thanks to an edge-to-edge display.

And they’d be running on Apple’s exceptional custom-built M1 chip – or maybe a souped-up version called the M1X.

Better yet, these rumoured laptops are tipped to feature an SD card slot, which had previously been abandoned from MacBook Pro models.

Apple AR/VR headset

Apple has shown an interest in augmented reality – and to a lesser extent virtual reality – for years.

And rumour has it that Apple is working on a pair of goggles, glasses or a headset that makes use of this technology.

It’s looking increasingly likely that we could see something on this front in 2022 or 2023.

Sadly, no mention of such a product camera at the September event.

Apple Watch 7 release date

In the run-up to the September event, there were rumours that the Apple Watch 7 would be delayed.

It was ultimately revealed, but without a release date.

So when the iPhone 13 goes on sale on Friday, September 24, it won’t be available alongside an Apple Watch 7.

Instead, we’re looking at a vague autumn window.

That means the watch should still be out in time for Christmas, but we don’t know exactly when.
