Game Pass has recently featured games on day one of their release, leading some Xbox and PC players to wonder if Dying Light 2 could follow.
With the release of Dying Light 2, Xbox and PC players are hoping the action survival game will drop on Game Pass day one. The Netflix of gaming, Game Pass, is a video game subscription service created by Microsoft. While its model is similar to TV and movie subscription services with a rotating catalog of games, Game Pass offers subscribers the ability to download games locally and have the first pick at first-party Xbox titles on day one of release.
Dying Light 2 is an action survival horror game developed by Techland for the past and current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as PC. Set almost two decades after Dying Light, the sequel follows Aiden Caldwell as he explores one of the last refuges of humanity, The City, to find his sister, Mia. Although a sequel, players don’t need to play Dying Light before Dying Light 2, as everything from the setting to gameplay mechanics has been expanded. The map of Dying Light 2 is more expansive than its predecessor, with the player not only needing a grappling hook, carried on from the first game, to traverse The City, but also a paraglider. The game will also reportedly take at least 500 hours to fully complete.
On the Gameplay front, Dying Light 2, on top of the survival horror setting, will also have RPG elements, offering a wider variety of gear and loot for the player to scavenge. The story and world of the game will also adapt depending on the player’s choices. Dying Light 2 doesn’t have crossplay, but it makes sense for the game to arrive on Game Pass eventually, with the service growing every day with a subscriber count in the millions. For now, though, the game is currently unavailable on the service.
Dying Light 2 Is Not On Game Pass (For Now)
Despite being first announced at the Xbox press conference at E3 2018, Dying Light 2 is not coming to Game Pass. This is fairly surprising considering how other third-party games like Rainbow Six: Extraction have appeared on Game Pass day one. However, this may not seem too out of the ordinary, considering that other Techland games like Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide were once available to players on Game Pass but are not currently in rotation, whereas the first Dying Light is totally absent altogether.
For now, it’s too early to tell whether or not Techland plans to bring Dying Light 2 or any other of its other games to Game Pass. However, should the game prove popular enough, then it’s possible it could be added at some point. Only time will tell whether or not Dying Light 2 will be on Game Pass, but either way, sooner would be better than later.
