Is The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G Available In The United States?

Announced earlier in 2021, the Galaxy A52s 5G is a solid budget phone with a lot to like. Unfortunately, its availability leaves a lot to be desired.

The Galaxy A52s 5G is one of the most compelling budget phones Samsung launched in 2021, but is the handset available in the United States? Keeping up with all of a company’s smartphone releases in a given year is no easy task — especially when that company is Samsung. Samsung releases countless devices every year without fault. From budget options to top-of-the-line foldables, Samsung’s one of the busiest smartphone brands in the business.

Looking at the company’s 2021 portfolio for the U.S., that point held true. Samsung kicked off the year with the Galaxy S21 series, consisting of the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. It also dived into the foldable niche with the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. Then there were all of the budget phones. Samsung released the Galaxy A52 5G, A42 5G, A32 5G, A12, and A02s.

That’s a healthy assortment of phones to be sure, but is the Galaxy A52s 5G among Samsung’s U.S. lineup? Unfortunately, the answer is no. At the time of publication, the Galaxy A52s 5G isn’t available in any part of North America — and Samsung has no confirmed plans to change that. The A52s 5G is available in countries such as the United Kingdom, India, and the Philippines, but U.S. shoppers need to look elsewhere.

While that may come as disappointing news, the upshot is that there are solid alternatives in the United States that are well worth considering. Perhaps the best choice for most shoppers is the Galaxy A52 5G. It’s virtually identical to the A52s 5G, with the only major difference being the processor (the A52 5G has a Snapdragon 750G, and the A52s 5G has a Snapdragon 778G). It’s a slightly slower and less efficient chip overall, but the rest of the A52 5G experience is pretty good. It has the same 6.5-inch AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, 64MP primary camera, in-screen fingerprint sensor, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Coming in at $399.99, the A52 5G is a solid deal.

Another option to consider is the Google Pixel 5a. It’s slightly more expensive at $449, but the experience it offers is top-notch. There’s a large 6.34-inch OLED screen, Snapdragon 765G chipset, multi-day battery life, outstanding cameras, and a trusty headphone jack. It’s also backed by an IP67 dust and water-resistance rating, ensuring it stays protected no matter where you end up with it.

Ultimately, it’s hard to go wrong with either of these options. The A52 5G offers the most similar experience that you’d get with the A52s 5G — and its lower price tag makes it appealing for shoppers with especially tight budgets. The Pixel 5a lacks the 120Hz display and Samsung software, but it makes up for that with its great cameras, battery, and Android 12 + Material You interface. An ideal world would see the A52s 5G being among Samsung’s U.S. smartphones. Since that’s not the reality we live in, however, either the A52 5G or Pixel 5a should fit the bill just fine.
