Louisiana Tech football adds Missouri, drops Baylor on 2022 schedule

Baylor is out, Missouri is in for the dawn of the Sonny Cumbie era of Louisiana Tech football.

Louisiana Tech will open at Missouri when the season kicks off Sept. 3 after cancelling the remainder of its three-game series with Baylor, the school announced in a news release Tuesday.

Louisiana Tech’s upcoming nonconference schedule also includes a home game against Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 10) and road games to Clemson (Sept. 17) and South Alabama (Sept. 24) next season.

“We want to do everything we can to schedule six home games every year moving forward. Our philosophy will be to schedule one Power Five, two Group of Fives and one FCS each year,” said athletics director Eric Wood. “We realize that next year we will only have five home games, but we will have six starting in 2023. Our plan is to try to make that the standard every season.”
