Monster Hunter Rise roars past 8 million units shipped worldwide
The PC version of Monster Hunter Rise made its debut last week, and it has already helped the game reach a new milestone of 8 million units shipped worldwide.
Monster Hunter Rise was released in March 2021, and it opened with 4 million units in worldwide shipments. Its momentum didn’t stop there as it went on to reach 5 million in a little over a week. Monster Hunter Rise hit 6 million about a month after launch and at 7 million shipped in May 2021. Sales eventually slowed down for the game as we didn’t hear anything about it since then. However, thanks to the release of the PC version on January 12, Monster Hunter Rise has made it to 8 million.
If you haven’t played Monster Hunter Rise on PC, it’s essentially the same game but with added 4K resolution support. It also includes voice chat functionality for PC. Capcom attributes the solid growth of the player base to the PC platform across a wide range of countries and regions. It should be interesting to see the sales performance of both the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the game moving forward, especially with the major Sunbreak expansion coming this summer.
Monster Hunter Rise is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion will arrive in summer 2022, and you can expect to hear more news about it this spring.
