On Saturday night, No. 23 NC State (4-1, 1-0 ACC) held on to beat Louisiana Tech (2-3, 1-0 C-USA), 34-27. The victory, which was the Wolfpack’s third straight, gives State good momentum heading into its bye week.
Offensively, State struggled in the first two quarters. However, it performed better as the game progressed, scoring three second-half touchdowns. Quarterback Devin Leary completed 22-of-36 passes for 251 yards and two scores.
It took a while, but the Wolfpack got the running game going in the second half. Ricky Person and Zonovan Knight combined for 28 carries for 175 yards with two touchdowns.
10 different receivers caught passes for State. Emeka Emezie led the way with 67 yards on four receptions, while Devin Carter had three catches for 65 yards, and Thayer Thomas totaled five receptions for 48 yards.
Defensively, Isaiah Moore continued his stellar play, tallying a team-high 10 tackles and a sack, while Drake Thomas had another strong performance, finishing with nine tackles. Safety Jakeen Harris also had nine stops as well as a game-sealing interception.
