Texas Tech just allowed an opponent to score 70 or more points for the third time since 2000, falling 70-25 to Texas.
Texas got anything and everything it wanted offensively in this game. The Longhorns had 336 yards on the ground and 303 passing yards. Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter that will keep him out for a few weeks. The Red Raiders’ leading rusher Tahj Brooks also missed the game with a lower leg injury. In nearly every aspect, Texas Tech would like to throw this game in the garbage.
Here are some of the national reactions to Texas Tech’s loss.
Seven Longhorns and Santa all reach the end zone as Texas rolls to a 70-35 win over Texas Tech. Texas, which last lost a Big 12 opener in 2016, tie the ninth-biggest score in school history. Up next for UT: A trip to TCU next week. #HookEm

Not sure there are any positives in this game for Texas Tech. Colombi and the offense FINALLY throwing down field could be one, but it was far too late. The defense just looked so unprepared and lacked adjustments of any kind. A lot more questions than answers after this loss.

Texas Tech has allowed 70 opponent points for the first time since 2015. It’s only the third time they’ve done so since 2000.
