Red Raiders men’s basketball vs. Kansas Jayhawks

Texas Tech basketball faces the No. 6-ranked Kansas Jayhawks at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.

In their previous game, a short-handed men’s Red Raiders team — only seven Texas Tech basketball players were available to compete “after five student-athletes were unable to travel to Ames, Iowa due to health and safety protocols,” per a news release — lost 51-47 against Iowa State Wednesday.

With the loss, Texas Tech (10-3, 0-1) suffered its first conference loss while Iowa State (13-1, 1-1) bounced back and improved to .500 in league play.

“We came in shorthanded, but we didn’t want to look at it as a disadvantage,” said Texas Tech’s Bryson Williams, who finished with 10 points and three rebounds. “We knew the type of fight we were coming into. … We knew how tough they were because their only loss was to Baylor — the No. 1 team in the country.
