Saints QB carted off, ruled out with concussion after taking helmet-to-helmet hit

New Orleans Saints quarterback and gadget player Taysom Hill has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Football Team after taking a scary hit to the head. Hill was carted off of the field after sustaining a helmet-to-helmet blow in the second quarter.

On the play, Hill laid out for an overthrown pass from Jameis Winston when Washington cornerback William Jackson III lowered his head and initiated contact. Jackson was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the hit. Fortunately, although Hill stayed down for a bit, he was eventually able to sit up on his own accord and spoke with medical staff as he was carted off.

The Saints later ruled Hill out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion.

New Orleans managed to score a touchdown after Hill exited the game. Winston found Alvin Kamara for a 12-yard screen pass that brought the Saints just outside the red zone before the fifth-year running back took a handoff 23-yards for a touchdown to tie the score up at 13-13.

After exchanging a series of punts, the Saints regained possession with less than 20-seconds left on the clock. On first-and-10 from the Washington 49-yard line, Winston uncorked a hail mary pass to receiver Marques Callaway to push New Orleans ahead 20-13 heading into halftime.
