CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina figures to be whole again for Saturday night’s matchup against Georgia Tech, with forward Dawson Garcia and guard Kerwin Walton expected to return to action.

Garcia has missed the Tar Heels’ last two games (loss at Notre Dame, victory against Virginia) and all but a third game due to a concussion suffered in the opening two minutes of the Tar Heels’ blowout of Boston College on Jan. 2. Walton has missed the last two games due to COVID-19 protocols.

“Dawson and Kerwin will play tomorrow,” Tar Heels coach Hubert Davis said Friday. “They practiced yesterday. They have done practices and individual workouts this entire week and I am really excited to have them back and out there on the floor.”

North Carolina (11-4 overall, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) will be coming off a six-game break between games and looking for a regular-season sweep of Georgia Tech (7-8, 1-4) on Saturday night (ACC Network) at the Smith Center.

“I expect them to be out there on the floor and to play to the way they have all season,” Davis said. “We really missed them. We missed them at Notre Dame. We missed them (last week), even though we played really well against Virginia. Both of those guys bring so much and add so much value to this team on both ends of the floor, so just to have them back in the lineup whether they come off the bench or whether they start, they make our team much better. And so I am just so excited that they are available and that they will be playing for us tomorrow.”

This report will be updated with more information.
