Warzone’s Gas Canisters Are a Great Counter to Zip Liners, Player Finds
Through luck, one Call of Duty: Warzone player managed to discover an innovative trick to clear campers from ziplines using gas canisters.

Camping in Warzone is a scourge that players often have to deal with, but one player managed to find a creative method to countering zip line campers using an unconventional method. This follows a long line of player-created solutions to help improve the Warzone experience and using several unconventional items, in this case, the gas canister.
Warzone, the battle royale companion to the popular shooter Call of Duty, recently underwent a massive facelift. The Warzone map transitioned to the new Pacific-themed Caldera in conjunction with the new Call of Duty: Vanguard. The change also integrates the weapons from Vanguard adding World War II-era guns and equipment. While players have only gotten a few days to explore Caldera, they have already found some easy areas of the map for camping, especially near the ziplines. The ziplines, which criss-cross the entire map, provide a quick and easy way for players to traverse Caldera on foot, should they not have a vehicle for fast movement. But one player has discovered a handy way to clear those ziplines of campers, waiting to dispense a quick death to unsuspecting crossers.
Shared on Reddit by user UsusualGenePool, the trick comes thanks to a lucky accident. In attempting to climb the zipline, UnusualGenePool accidentally lights up a gas canister that they are carrying and sends it up the line towards the bridge above. At the top, the gas canister explodes, to UnusualGenePool’s surprise. Even though it didn’t secure UnusualGenePool a kill, the applications for this trick are endless. Any time a player thinks about traversing a zipline, they now know that they can send the gas canister ahead of them to kill would-be campers. Many Warzone players in the comments noted that they might try to use this trick in a future game.
Even though Warzone is now entering a new era with the new Caldera map, players are still dealing with the frustrations that often accompany the battle royale genre. Campers are chief among these issues, so any opportunity for players to get the jump on a camping player will be celebrated. Certainly, Warzone‘s Caldera map had its own issues at launch, including overpowered vehicles and weapons. But it’s good to see that countermeasures are being discovered.
Warzone remains one of the most popular and most played battle royale games in the world precisely because of this level of creativity and innovation. Even though players can be frustrated by the game at times, being able to find tricks like UnusualGenePool can make Warzone interesting and fun.
