Psst: Amazon has a super secret sale section dedicated to amazing deals and discounts on Amazon devices, from smart home components to TVs. Each week, the company releases new items for sale in this hidden hub — and the deals disappear as quickly as they show up. So what’s on offer? A duo of Blink wireless smart cameras for $100 — perfect for keeping an eye on your garage or entry — and much more.

Amazon will give you free shipping with Prime membership, of course. Members also enjoy access to thousands of movies and TV shows, discounts at Whole Foods and more. If you’re not already a member, you can start your free 30-day trial here.

Grab an Echo Show 5 for 44 percent off

Make video calls through Amazon Echo Show 5. Just say,

Make video calls through Amazon Echo Show 5. Just say, “Alexa, call Mom.”

Amazon’s popular smart home device is now 44 percent off, bringing it down from $80 to just $45; the gizmo controls many smart home devices like thermostats and security cameras — and also comes with Alexa! You’ll get access to an impressive array of TV shows, podcasts, audiobooks and radio stations, plus weather reports, step by step recipes, to-do lists and calendars.

If your friends or family members also have an Echo or an Alexa device you can video call them simply by saying, “Alexa call Mom.” Households with multiple devices can use them to make announcements — so you don’t have to walk upstairs or even leave the room to let everyone know when it’s time for dinner (or the new Dexter episodes).

One reviewer, who uses the Echo Show 5 as a bedside alarm clock, particularly likes the way it works with the Ring doorbell: “The Echo Show alerts me to someone at the front door. I can say, “Alexa, show me the front door,” and…I can see the person, listen to the audio or speak to the person at the front door.”

Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus tablet with Microsoft software on screen

Watch movies? Check. Create Spreadsheets? Check. (Photo: Amazon)

Amazon’s Fire tablets are well known for being reasonably priced options for playing games, watching movies and making video calls. Right now, the Fire HD 10 Plus is 30 percent off with a Microsoft 365 Personal bundle, making it even better for writing emails, creating documents and note-taking.

The software bundle provides you with a 12-month subscription to premium office apps like Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. It also comes with 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage with advanced security for files and photos.

The included keyboard turns the Fire 10 HD Plus into a whole other device. The display is brighter than previous Fire tablets, which makes it easier to view outdoors.

One five-star reviewer says, “It’s like a mini-laptop minus the mouse tracker/pad. It has a good battery life…I could see using this to do some small and quick work for any of my writing projects as well as watching TV and reading on the go…My husband wishes we had bought two now.”

Insignia 50

“Alexa, find me Halloween movies!” (Photo: Amazon)

The 2021 Insignia 4K 50-inch TV is a sweet 33 percent off right now, bringing the price from $600 to $400 for a crystal-clear QLED screen in 2160p resolution. Make your movie nights even better with access to thousands of TV shows and movies on Prime Video, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max and more.

The built-in Fire TV also lets you tap into apps, podcasts, radio stations and Alexa for an endless stream of entertainment. And the included Alexa Voice Control remote means you can ask for anything, and get it. (“Alexa, find me movies from 1997.”)

The Alexa remote also lets you control your smart home devices right from your TV: You can adjust smart lights, thermostats and even door locks using voice commands. Imagine settling in for the night and telling Alexa to lock the doors and turn off the lights before getting her to find you a binge-worthy show.

This reviewer was particularly impressed with the picture quality: “Exceptional color, brightness, contrast and deep blacks. Especially stunning vivid reds…Motion handling is also excellent. Good…in both bright and dark rooms.” They added “…this leaves all the other Fire TV models in the dust….”

Two Blink Indoor Wireless HD Security Cameras

If you’ve been curious about smart home security, Blink’s two-indoor camera package is currently $40 off, down to $100. The wireless cameras work well day and night (with infrared vision), and because they’re battery powered it’s easy to set them up in minutes — no professional installation required.

In addition to watching over your property, the Blink cameras let you hear and speak to people (and pets!) with two-way audio features, available in the Blink app. The app will also send you customizable motion alerts on your phone when it senses movement; if you sign up for the Blink Subscription Plan, you can save and store video clips in the cloud — making it easy to file away evidence in case of an injury or accident.

Says one former skeptic: “Because [these cameras] work with Alexa, I was able to configure them to make an announcement when motion is detected…It scared the living hell out of two people who have been snooping around. I also get a phone call and text when motion is triggered…These are GREAT little units. I cancelled ADT.”
