Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Getting Discovery Tour on October 19, Standalone Release Coming in 2022 for Consoles

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to finally get an update adding Discovery Tour almost a year after launch on October 19, 2021. Ubisoft also revealed that standalone versions of Discovery Tour: Viking Age will be available on PC at launch, with it making its way to consoles sometime in early 2022.

The new mode will let players wander around 9th century England and other regions in the game while getting curated history lessons on the people and cultures of the age.

“For the newest opus in the series, the development team in Ubisoft Montreal has changed the formula to make the journey even more fun and informative by putting the narrative and storytelling at the heart of the experience,” reads a post by Ubisoft.

“Players will be able to step into the shoes of Viking and Anglo-Saxon characters from the time while living out their stories and adventures and interacting with the world around them.

Discovery Tour: Viking Age standalone release will cost £15.99 on PC, although Ubisoft hasn’t revealed what it will cost in India. If Ubisoft’s India pricing for the previous Discovery Tours, from Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, are any indication, then Discovery Tour: Viking Age should cost Rs. 999 with its standalone release. In either case, Discovery Tour: Viking Age will be free for all owners of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla across PC and consoles.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been continually updated with new mechanics which perhaps gives the game more value than some of its predecessors. To know more about how the game has changed, check out IGN India’s reassessment of the game six months after its launch. The game is set to receive extra expansions and support well into its second year, which is a first for the franchise. Of course, we now know that these updates are experimental in nature due to Ubisoft’s recently announced development of a fully live-service Assassin’s Creed game/platform.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with both of its expansions available as part of its season pass as well as being sold individually.
