Your next takeaway from Singapore brand Aftershock’s latest experiential centre may not be a PC, but a custom keyboard instead.

Sporting cool, concrete industrial looks, the new showroom in Bendeemer is part of Aftershock’s Endgame project – an upgrade of the company’s facilities.

Visitors to the 7,000 square feet centre will be able to try out all of the PC maker’s product lines, as well as try out products from Razer, Logitech, and Creative.

Keyboard nerds and noobs looking for that extra special something, though, will love the new Mash Experience Center located inside.

A partnership between local keyboard company Tempest and Aftershock, Mash offers customers the opportunity to build their own keyboards on the spot.

Mashing your keyboard together

Eager enthusiasts can first choose their own barebone keyboard, then from a variety of switches. Finally, they get to finish off the keyboard from a range of beautiful keycaps, all for that Instagram-perfect keyboard.

And if you get confused, Mash experts will be on hand to help explain and guide the keyboard-building journey.

“As a team of keyboard and PC enthusiasts, we’ve taken a close look at the ways in which users get introduced to the world of custom keyboards locally and we believe there is huge room to make the process far more intuitive, interactive, convenient and accessible to all,” said Issac Yuen, co-founder and managing director.

Yuen added that while he’ll be at Mash to handle customers, Tempest will still continue to operate as usual.

For those eyeing this, you can expect to spend around S$250 for a keyboard depending on your choice of parts.

While this is more expensive than a typical mechanical keyboard, you get to customise exactly how your keyboard feels and looks – making it worth every cent.

You can also order parts from the Mash.sg website, which launches on Wednesday (17 February).

While it doesn’t yet ship outside of Singapore, Mash said they plan to offer shipping in other countries – though no timeline was revealed.

Besides being a product showcase for Aftershock’s products, users can also check out Omnidesk and Secretlab gear to finish setting up their gaming space.

There’s also a streamer zone, a dedicated space loaded with gear designed for streamers. That means stuff like cameras, lights, decks, and decorative options such as the Nanoleaf panels.

An Upgrade Bay also allows current Aftershock customers to select parts to upgrade their current setups with new GPUs or CPUs at exclusive rates.

“Aftershock’s journey has been far from easy, and we are truly humbled to be able to launch this new venue as we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year,” said co-founder Marcus Wee.

“As its name suggests, the Aftershock Endgame project envisions a new paradigm for PC experiences, and emphasises our ethos of driving new innovations in the local PC industry; from offering award-winning products to delivering unparalleled purchase and service experiences.”

Wee also told Yahoo SEA that he had considered other locations, but eventually settled on expanding its current premises in the B-Central industrial block due to the ease of commute based on feedback from customers and staff.

The showroom is also designed to educate consumers, with a focus on letting them understand how a PC is put together, how to match components, or even achieve better ergonomics for work and gaming.

The Aftershock experiential centre opens to the public on Feb 19, 2022, 10am. It is located at B Central, 994 Bendemeer Road, #05-07, Singapore 339943. It will be open on weekdays from 11.30am to 8pm, and 12pm to 6pm on Saturday. The centre is closed on Sundays.
