Caltex launches CaltexGO contactless payment app in the Klang Valley, new users get up to RM10 cashback

Chevron Malaysia Limited has officially launched CaltexGo in Malaysia. This is a contactless payment app that allows you to pay for petrol while earning reward points via your smartphone. The feature is great especially in the new normal as you no longer need to swipe your payment cards and touch the payment terminal. CaltexGo was released quietly early this year and it is now officially available to customers in the Klang Valley.

Similar to Setel by Petronas, the app uses GPS to identify which station you’re at. You are required to enter the pump number as well as the amount you wish to pump when making a payment. Instead of maintaining a separate eWallet, CaltexGo charges directly to your linked credit or debit card. You can link a maximum of 2 cards and it currently supports both Visa and Mastercard.

For a paperless experience, you will receive a digital receipt in the app and by email. If you need a paper receipt, it can be requested from the store. Users are also able to earn Bpoints by linking their Journey card to the app.

As part of its introductory promo, CaltexGo users can earn up to RM10 in cashback. Just pump a minimum of RM30 worth of fuel to get RM5 cashback and this offer is capped at 2 times per user. You can enjoy this cashback promo until 31st December 2021 with terms and conditions apply.

According to the FAQ, there’s a pre-authorisation amount of RM200 charged for fuel purchases. However, the amount will be reversed immediately and the actual amount will be charged upon settlement by the merchant. Unfortunately, the app is only for petrol purchases only and you can’t use it to buy items at the convenience store.

Similar to Petronas, customers are only permitted to use their phones inside their vehicle or in the convenience store. You are discouraged to use your phone at the pump as it could be a source of distraction. Motorcyclists may use the app but are recommended to use it inside the store.

The app is now available on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. At the moment, CaltexGo is only supported at Caltex stations in the Klang Valley and they will expand to more stations in other parts of Malaysia by the first half of 2022. For more info, visit the CaltexGo page.
