Dragon Quest X Offline delay sends it to summer 2022 in Japan

Square Enix has been providing a steady stream of news and content updates for Dragon Quest X Offline (DQX Offline) — which is great — but this latest bit of news is a release date delay — which is less great. Dragon Quest X Offline has been delayed from February 23, 2022 in Japan to a broad summer 2022 release date, in order to provide additional polish to take it to the finish line. Additionally, DLC expansion Dragon Quest X: The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Ally Offline has received a delay from summer to fall 2022.

To date, we have covered a lot of the content that will be coming to Dragon Quest X Offline, including a new story episode with a new character. It will also support data transfer from the online version of the game. We further covered the decision to render DQX Offline with cutesy chibi characters instead of with more realistic proportions. However, while DQX Offline will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, there are currently no announced plans to launch it internationally. Hopefully this will change eventually, as it would really sting if there is a single mainline DQ game that an international audience can’t easily enjoy.
