FF7 Remake 2 Update Likely After 25th Anniversary Stream Reveal

The 25th anniversary livestream for Final Fantasy VII might have some news about the upcoming sequel to FF7 Remake, thanks to some special guests.

The upcoming livestream for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII may have some news about the upcoming sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, thanks to some special guests who will be appearing during the event. FF7 launched on the original PlayStation in ’97, where it went on to become the second best-selling game on the system and helped propel the series to worldwide mainstream success.

When FF7 Remake was first announced, everyone assumed that it would be a full remake of FF7. It was later revealed that the game would focus on the initial Midgar portion of FF7, but would expand the story to fit the length of a full game. Once FF7 Remake was released, it was revealed that the game would no longer be a normal remake, but a retelling, as the story will now go in a new direction. The INTERmission DLC for FF7 Remake ended with the party reaching Kalm, while the Aerith/Tifa novel confirmed that they still go on the boat ride to Costa Del Sol, so it seems FF7 Remake Part 2 will follow the story of the original game.

FF7 Remake launched in 2020, but the developers revealed that the sequel entered production straight away. It appears that the developers might be ready to reveal some information about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2. According to Gamer (via. Siliconera), there will be a livestream held on January 31 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of FF7. It has been revealed that the livestream will feature guest appearances from FF7 Remake co-director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase. There’s a good chance that they will have an announcement about FF7 Remake Part 2 if they’re appearing on the show.

It has also been confirmed that the livestream will feature new information about the upcoming season of FF7: The First Soldier. There are many fans who are hoping that there will be an announcement regarding a console/PC port, as the game is currently a mobile exclusive. It’s also likely that more information will be revealed about Ever Crisis, which is an upcoming mobile RPG that will retell the story of the original FF7 timeline. Ever Crisis lacks a release date, so it’s likely to appear during the livestream.

The sequel to FF7 Remake has been in development for two years, so it’s unlikely that there will be a set release date revealed during the livestream. It’s more likely that Nomura and Kitase will show off key art for the game, a teaser trailer, or even FF7 Remake Part 2’s official name. If fans are lucky, there might even be a release window given for the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, and, if Sony is lucky, word of timed exclusivity on PlayStation platforms.
