Fortnite Player Discovers Vending Machine Life Support Trick

A Fortnite player has discovered that Mending Machines will give downed players life support if they spend their in-game currency.

A Fortnite player has discovered that, despite being knocked down, a vending machine can offer a much-needed health boost. Epic Games’ battle royale game has been around for four years, yet players are still finding little tricks to help them stay alive thanks to its ever-evolving nature, and the recent launch of the new Fortnite Chapter 3 has helped to keep things fresh. Once 100 players are dropped into the arena at the beginning of a game, each player must fight to be the last one standing. If a player is knocked down, they are unable to fight back or use healing items. Their health deteriorates, and they must crawl to a teammate to help heal them before they are eliminated, as they cannot do it on their own.

Introduced in Season 3, Fortnite’s vending machines serve a range of purposes, allowing users to get their hands on loot, weapons, and consumables. There are different types of vending machines in Fortnite, including Weapon-O-Matics and Mending Machines. The latter dispense items that will help give players a leg-up on the competition, but unlike other vending machines, Mending Machines sell healing-related items including shield potions and medkits. Until recently, players could not use Fortnite Mending Machines when they were knocked down.

As reported by GamesRadar, a Fortnite player has discovered that Mending Machines will give players life support if they spend their in-game currency. On Reddit, user madelrush posted a video showcasing their character recovering from being knocked prone by using a nearby Mending Machine. Their character can be seen purchasing several small shield potions until their red “tenacity” gauge goes back to 100, thus keeping themselves alive. While this particular Mending Machine doesn’t offer any of Fortnite‘s Med-Mist or Guzzle Juice, it keeps the player from being eliminated. Of course, for this to work, a player would have to be within a short crawling distance of a Mending Machine since their health continues to deteriorate with each passing second.

As evidenced in the comments section of the Reddit post, this is likely a new feature that’s been recently added for Chapter 3’s Season 1. For the newest Chapter, developers have made players move at a faster speed when crawling, and players can now also do more when down, including opening doors and collecting loot. Though it hasn’t been explicitly said whether this Mending Machine trick is a glitch or a new feature, it will likely change the game as people will be harder to eliminate. Now players can use Mending Machines to keep hanging on as they wait for a teammate to revive them.

The new Fortnite Chapter 3 had more players on its first day than any other season in the game, with fans new and old diving back into the title to see what changes the new map had introduced. This fact, coupled with this new Mending Machine life support trick, might make Fortnite and its arena seem a little more crowded.
