A hilarious mod on PC turns God of War’s Kratos into an even worse father by using additional lines of dialogue from actor Christopher Judge.
A funny God of War PC mod transforms Kratos into an even worse father by adding extra lines of dialogue to certain scenes. Plenty has been said about Kratos’ parental skills in God of War and the upcoming Ragnarök sequel. In the original trilogy of games and the various spinoffs, the character seemed far removed from the role of fatherhood given the tragic events that set the Santa Monica Studio-created series in motion.
The soft reboot that hit stores in 2018 positioned Kratos as the sole parental figure, a widowed single father who evidently found it difficult to connect with his only living child. In watching his interactions with Atreus, some critics and players deemed him a bad father for whom they felt contempt. However, even early in the story, Kratos shows signs of trying, attempting to slowly peel back the many layers of rage built from years of battling the Greek pantheon in God of War‘s original trilogy. How he’ll fare parenting a slightly older Atreus in God of War: Ragnarok, of course, remains to be seen.
Suffice it to say, the modding community has had a field day since God of War released on PC earlier this January. One of the more humorous mods currently making the rounds, courtesy of Reddit user Fake_Mophead, adds extra voice lines from actor Christopher Judge to otherwise serious scenes. In the famous “don’t be sorry, be better” exchange, the fan-made content sees Kratos tell an apologetic Atreus, “Hi, Sorry, I’m dad.” Another altered scene features improv lines from Judge familiar to those who watched God of War’s Making Of documentary from PlayStation Europe. After Freya asks him to retrieve Lamb’s Cress from her garden, Kratos grumbles, “I’m the f—-ing God of War.” PC players can access the God of Dad Jokes mod via Nexus Mods.

Unsurprisingly, Christopher Judge’s Kratos humor works well in a dad joke mod for the most recent God of War entry. The additional lines add a bit of levity to the experience, though the likes of Sindri, Brok, and Mimir provide plenty of that all their own throughout Kratos’ and Atreus’ lengthy journey. Fans have been awaiting the PC launch of God of War for some time, not just to be able to experience the title outside of PlayStation hardware, but also to embrace hilarity with fan-made mods that can make anything possible.
To the delight of many, the father and son duo’s next adventure will revolve around the mythological events known as Ragnarök. Sony and Santa Monica Studio have, thus far, only shown a single gameplay trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel, but teases for Thor and other Norse figures of importance keep the excitement raging on. God of War: Ragnarök is due to release on PS4 and PS5 sometime this year.
God of War (2018) is available to play now across PC, PS4, and PS5 platforms.
