God of War’s PC Version Impresses in Two-Hour Gameplay Footage

Two hours of God of War (2018) gameplay running on PC have hit the web, with just a few days to go before the new version arrives.

Days ahead of the new version’s arrival, two hours of gameplay showing off God of War (2018) on PC have gone live online. Sony announced God of War’s migration to PC back in October 2021, promising an enhanced iteration of the adventure that will boast a whole host of extra features.

For one, the title will come packed with full 4K resolution, alongside ultra-widescreen options. NVIDIA also told PC players to expect God of War to support its DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Reflex low latency technology. In short, Kratos’ and Atreus’ award-winning escapade through the Norse world will soon play best on a non-PlayStation platform. This isn’t Sony’s first foray into the PC space and it won’t be the last. Horizon Zero Dawn’s 2020 release on PC effectively set things in motion, its incredible commercial success leading to last year’s rollout of Days Gone on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Sometime this year, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection will make its way to the aforementioned storefronts, as well.

YouTube channel Sigma Hawk Gaming, as spotted by DSOGaming, recently uploaded two hours of God of War gameplay running on PC. While the button prompts prove the player used mouse and keyboard to control Kratos, nothing else about the build appears in the video or description. As such, specifics about the game’s framerate and resolution don’t receive mention in the following gameplay footage:

The absence of graphics and performance-based details aside, the above God of War footage running on PC looks nothing short of incredibly impressive. And this is despite the drawbacks of YouTube compression. With the GoW PC release just around the corner, though, players don’t have long to wait to see the title in all of its high-res glory.

Santa Monica Studio and Sony brought God of War back from the ashes of Tartarus in 2018, dropping Kratos in a brand-new setting with a fresh story and young son in tow. Now fans patiently await Kratos’ and Atreus’ return in GoW: Ragnarok, a sequel to the 2018 tale that will allow the Santa Monica crew to round out its Norse story. At the time of writing, a firm launch date for the anticipated follow-up entry has yet to officially emerge.
