GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Release Date On Console & PC Revealed

After no shortage of rumors and speculation, Rockstar Games has confirmed that the remastered GTA trilogy will release on November 11, 2021.

Rockstar has released the first official details and release date for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. The official announcement confirms that many of the rumors about the GTA trilogy are true ranging from its new controls, its November release date, and general enhancements. That said, there are some other massive reveals as well.

After a year of rumors and speculation, Rockstar officially announced the GTA trilogy in October. The announcement was nothing more than a simple teaser confirming that the developer was remastering Grand Theft Auto 3Vice City, and San Andreas, but it was still enough to get people excited. Unlike other Rockstar announcements, fans were also enthused to hear that the remaster would be getting a quick turnaround thanks to a 2021 release date. Now, the developer is ready to talk about the game’s specifics.

Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will cost $59.99 and release digitally on November 11, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Rockstar Game Launcher. The trilogy will also get a physical release on December 7, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. It had previously been rumored that the GTA Trilogy would get a physical release in December and now, those rumors have been confirmed. Xbox Game Pass owners will also be able to play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition on day one at no extra cost. PS Now subscribers will also get to Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition on December 7.

Rockstar’s announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto 3, which was released on October 22, 2001. The trilogy is being released in part to celebrate the anniversary as the game is a pivotal part of Rockstar’s history. Although it’s a full-priced game, there is quite a value in three games that have been remastered for modern systems. All three games are being remastered with the Unreal Engine and will have a number of enhancements from controls to visuals.

The collection will fill the old release date of the recently delayed GTA 5 remaster. The new version of GTA 5 will now release in March 2022 and include a variety of visual upgrades and new content. Rockstar’s highly-anticipated trilogy will also be competing with another highly-anticipated remaster: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition. Bethesda’s remaster is launching to tie in with the 10th anniversary of the original game, meaning players will have no shortage of classics to revisit on November 11.
