Arc System Works recently teased a very different Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo, and its platforms have been revealed as Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. The news comes from a preview of this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.
The game’s full title is Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo: Zeiin Shuugou!, which translates to Kunio-kun’s Records of the Three Kingdoms: Everyone Gather!. As previously mentioned, “Sangokushi” is Japanese for “Records of the Three Kingdoms,” which is the title for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games in Japan, and that’s what we’re getting in the new game.
We only got a glimpse of what to expect, but the magazine preview shows Kunio and others as prominent characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. These include Kunio as Guan Yu and Goda as Liu Bei. We even have Godai as Zhang Fei in the upper right. The magazine preview also shows that development is around 65% complete.
The developer is APlus Games, which recently made Kill la Kill IF and Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time. Based on the tiny preview images, it’s already pretty evident that this won’t be another retro-style Kunio-kun game. In any case, we’ll likely get a closer look with a debut trailer from Arc System Works soon.
Kunio-kun no Sangokushi dayo is in development for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
