Leaked renders of the Moto G200 smartphone have revealed the design of Motorola’s next flagship ahead of its rumored release this month.
Motorola seems to be gearing up for multiple phone announcements before the year ends. One of the new devices is a new affordable flagship smartphone that is expected to launch as the Moto G200. The design of the smartphone, which is a successor to the Moto G100 announced in March 2021, has now been revealed in a set of leaked images.
The Lenovo-owned company has released several devices this year with a handful of them launched under the famous Moto G line. Last year, it announced that the 10-year old Moto G line, best known for affordable mid-range devices, would get its first flagship model in 2021. That phone launched as the Snapdragon 870-powered Moto G100 which is also sold in China as the Motorola Edge S.
The Moto G200 is expected to launch this month but an early leak has revealed what the phone looks like. The photos shared by Technik News show Motorola has switched to a new design for the next Moto G series flagship phone. The display is still flat but it drops the double hole punch for a single one that now sits in the middle rather than on the left side of the display. That design change has also been extended to the rear of the phone. There are three vertically stacked protruding cameras on the back, and while it appears as if the sensors are not housed inside a camera island, the area of the back panel they occupy is slightly raised. Motorola has also adopted a redesigned frame for the Moto G200.
A More Powerful Chipset Under The Hood
Prior to the leaked photos, the same source had revealed some of the key specifications of the phone. The display is reported to have a Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz just like that of the Motorola Edge 20 Pro. The refresh rate is an upgrade from the 90Hz on its predecessor. It has also been stated that it will have the more powerful Snapdragon 888 processor powering it. The 64MP main camera on the Moto G100 has been upgraded to a 108MP sensor and this is confirmed by the leaked photos. However, not everything has changed. The Moto G200 is sticking to a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that is buried underneath the power button. It also retains the dedicated Google Assistant button on the left side of the frame.

The already launched Moto G100 not only offers impressive specifications but has some really interesting software tricks that the Moto G200 is also expected to have. Called Ready For, the software feature allows users to expand the functions of the phone when connected to an external display such as a TV or monitor. When plugged into a monitor, the Moto G1oo provides users with a desktop-like interface. Owners can pair a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to the phone and have a makeshift desktop computer. For gamers, the phone can be connected to a TV, and with a paired controller, enjoy their games on a large screen. Another use case is to connect the phone to an external display during a video call. Motorola is yet to reveal a launch date yet for the Moto G200 but it is shaping up to be an interesting device.
