Players have discovered that the upcoming Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for the PlayStation 5 only has one platinum trophy available.
Players have uncovered that the upcoming Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves on PlayStation 5 only has one platinum trophy, disappointing many that hoped the remastered collection would provide two. Naughty Dog announced the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves remasters of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for PlayStation 5 and PC during the PlayStation Showcase 2021, following rumors of an Uncharted collection with all five games supposedly coming to PC. However, the actual release will only include the franchise’s two most recent titles, excluding the original Uncharted trilogy from the remastered package.
Sony introduced the Trophy system for PlayStation users in 2008 following the success and popularity of Xbox’s gamerscore feature. Compared to Xbox, PlayStation users have an exclusive Platinum Trophy feature that is awarded as proof that a player has shown dedication, diligence, and perseverance when tackling many challenges the game has to offer by collecting all of its trophies. Since its release, Platinum Trophies have become a ubiquitous part of the PlayStation community, becoming a digital honor badge for those who are committed enough. They however vary by game, and sometimes Platinum Trophies are tied to ridiculously long grinds, time-consuming objectives, or tedious online tasks.
Shared on Reddit, user NateDrake75 posted a screenshot of what appears to be Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves’ trophy list directly from their PlayStation 5 with only one Platinum Trophy. Strangely, the user states that the collection consisting of two titles only has one Platinum Trophy, with the Platinum Trophy requiring players to unlock all of Uncharted 4‘s trophies as well as Lost Legacy, which has been oddly added on the add-on trophy list instead of being listed as a separate game. Acquiring all of Lost Legacy‘s trophies accumulates players one Gold Trophy towards the Platinum. While Uncharted 4‘s online trophies are no longer present, this is still considered to be ridiculously time-consuming and players are highly displeased they need to unlock 100 trophies just for the Platinum.
The extra Platinum trophy isn’t the only feature cut from the remastered collection. A recent ESRB rating revealed that Uncharted 4‘s multiplayer was completely scrapped from both the PlayStation 5 and PC versions of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves. Despite not being officially confirmed by Naughty Dog, this trophy list further proves that the mode was cut similar to the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
Seeing how most remastered collections feature multiple Platinum Trophies, it’s unknown why the developers decided to only include one. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves remastered collection is highly anticipated amongst its community, but the hype now appears to have dialed off, as a lot of collectors are now displeased with the title and its subpar trophy list.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves will be available on January 28th for PlayStation 5 and will release on PC sometime later in 2022.
