OnePlus said to be working on a tablet for India, may launch in early 2022

After success in the smartphone market, OnePlus is now gearing up to launch its first tablet dubbed as the OnePlus Pad. The smartphone maker is keen on expanding its presence beyond smartphones.

According to a report by 91mobiles and reliable tipster Mukul Sharma, the OnePlus Pad will be launched in India by the first half of 2022. Although it is still not clear how many models of the OnePlus Pad the company will be unveiling in China, the Indian market will get at least one model.

Any information regarding the OnePlus Pad is currently scarce. However, according to leaks this latest tablet offering from OnePlus is expected to come with a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED display which has a 1752 x 2800 pixels resolution. The display will have an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a pixel density of 266 PPI.

OnePlus has in recent times expanded its portfolio to include Smart TVs, wearable devices, and audio products. OnePlus has also confirmed that it will be attending the 2022 CES event in Las Vegas where it is expected to either unveil or launch a teaser of the new OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro.

However, earlier reports have indicated that the OnePlus 10 Pro will launch in China first and then expand to other markets, including India by March/April. Both the OnePlus 10 and the OnePlus 10 Pro are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and have support for 125W fast charging on board.

The two flagship smartphones will be the first to boot the Oppo-OnePlus unified OS out of the box and this will be a big shift from OxygenOS skin.

In related news, OnePlus recently released a new update to Android 12 with the OxygenOS 12. However, users are reporting that it is littered with bugs. Not only that, the new version seems to have even removed some functions, which users had been accustomed to and really comfortable with for years.

The issues range from seemingly minor ones like UI inconsistencies and poor animations to potentially crippling ones like slow Wi-Fi speeds and losing the ability to make and receive calls.

However, bugs and issues are common on phones after big software updates. OnePlus is expected to soon release a minor update acknowledging the issues reported by OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro users in India.
