PS Now November 2021’s Games Headlined By Mafia: Definitive Edition

Sony has confirmed the list of games coming to PS Now in November 2021, with a lineup headlined by the likes of Mafia: Definitive Edition.

The November 2021 lineup of games for PS Now includes the likes of Mafia: Definitive Edition, which launched a little over a year ago on consoles and PC. Akin to countless other titles from the PlayStation 2 era, Mafia began life as a Grand Theft Auto clone before eventually coming into its own with later iterations.

A well-received narrative ensured Mafia would go down as one of the more memorable open-world experiences of the day. And developer Illusion Softworks, later rebranded as 2K Czech, had even bigger ambitions for the sequel, 2010’s Mafia II. The development team didn’t return for Mafia III in 2016, with production duties instead going to its sister studio Hangar 13. But parent company Take-Two Interactive’s decision to fold 2K Czech into Hangar 13 resulted in some of the Mafia franchise’s original crew members playing a significant role in the making of the favorably reviewed Mafia: Definitive Edition. PS4 and PS5 users who’ve yet to give the remake a try need not wait any longer to explore the origins of a mob classic.

French gaming forum Dealabs has once more proven itself a reliable source when it comes to PlayStation-related leaks. As the website previously noted, Mafia: Definitive Edition headlines PS Now’s November 2021 lineup, which becomes available tomorrow, November 2. The classic Mafia title exits the streaming service on Monday, February 28. Dealabs was also correct in reporting that Celeste would fill out the service’s latest offerings. A PlayStation Blog post confirms that Final Fantasy IX and Totally Reliable Delivery Service count as part of the latest additions, as well.

Final Fantasy 9 Zidane Dual Blades

In September, Square Enix promised to add a Final Fantasy game to PS Now once per month through January 2022. With Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII already on board, FFIX was nothing if not expected. The addition of beloved 2018 platformer Celeste will likely pique interest, too, given the acclaim the delightful experience continues to receive across the board. Totally Reliable Delivery Service seems to constitute the wild card for the month, though there’s still plenty of fun to be had with a game all about the zaniness of bad delivery couriers and the ragdoll physics that sees them thrown to and fro.

New PS Now titles means Sony is removing a few others. In fact, three titles leave the platform today, November 1 – NieR: Automata, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Streets of Rage 4. The latter hit the service in May of this year, Red Dead 2 joined PS Now back in July, and the beloved NieR installment entered the mix in August.
