TL;DR
- Realme will reportedly follow OnePlus in offering an alert slider.
- The first Realme phone with the switch could arrive next month.
OnePlus has offered an alert slider switch on most of its smartphones since the OnePlus 2, allowing users to switch between vibrate, silent, and ringing sound profiles. This means you don’t need to turn on your screen and visit the quick settings to tweak your sound profile.
The feature hasn’t caught on among smartphone brands at large, but MySmartPrice and Twitter tipster Yogesh Brar report that Realme will indeed release a phone next month that offers an alert slider.
The Realme phone will apparently be a mid-range offering, but other details weren’t forthcoming from either source. Nevertheless, this could be the first time we see an alert slider on an Android phone from a company other than OnePlus.
It could also be a boon for people looking for a more affordable phone with an alert slider. OnePlus doesn’t ship the feature on all of its cheaper Nord phones, with the likes of the $240 Nord N200 and ~$400 Nord CE 2 going without it. So Realme could theoretically fill this gap and bring an alert slider to sub-$400 devices.
