TL;DR
- A leaker has claimed that Samsung could ditch bundled chargers for its budget phones.
- This would reportedly affect Galaxy M and Galaxy A series phones.
- It’s unclear whether this is restricted to India or a global move.
Samsung was one of the first Android smartphone makers to ditch the bundled charger for its flagship phones, following in Apple’s footsteps. We haven’t seen the company abandon the in-box charger for its cheaper phones though, but a new leak suggests this could indeed be the case.
Frequent tipster Yogesh Brar has claimed on Twitter that Samsung won’t offer in-box chargers for upcoming Galaxy M and Galaxy A series smartphones. Furthermore, Brar added that the upcoming Galaxy F23 will lack a charger too.
We’re not sure if this policy is restricted to India or if budget Samsung phones outside India will lose the in-box charger too. But either way, you might want to double-check the box before you buy an upcoming budget Galaxy device.
It would be a shame though, as budget phones are often the first smartphones for many people. So someone buying a smartphone for the first time — or for the first time in a long time — might not be able to fall back to a previous USB-C charger.
Would you buy a budget phone without a charger?
