Samsung officially revealed the affordable Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G during its highly anticipated Galaxy A Event 2022. Both phones are slated to arrive in April, and both carry price tags in-line with the newly announced iPhone SE. Here’s everything revealed during March’s Galaxy A Event, including a closer look at both the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33 5G.

Galaxy A53 5G Brings Affordable 5G

The Samsung A53 5G brings a sleek new design to the A Series lineup. With an Ambient Edge that smoothly integrates the camera block into the rest of the smartphone, slim bezels around the display and the availability of four colors, it’s a surprisingly good-looking product. You’ll also benefit from a 6.5-inch display, 120Hz refresh rate and a bunch of powerful new cameras.

Samsung is packing a lot of value into the budget-conscious smartphone, which starts at a price of $450. Here’s a closer look at its spec sheet:

The Galaxy A53 5G is now available for pre-order, with a release date of April 1st. Depending on your trade-in, you can snag the Galaxy A53 5G for just $335 – along with a free pair of Galaxy Buds Live. Samsung is dedicated to offering four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades and up to five years of security updates – making this a solid long-term investment.

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Gets a 90Hz Screen and Two-Day Battery

There’s good news and bad news with the Galaxy A33 5G. The good news? It offers much the same functionality as its more expensive sibling. The bad news? It might not launch in the United States.

Samsung has a penchant for excluding the states from budget smartphone launches, and that might hold true for the Galaxy A33. US pricing was noticeably absent from the presentation (and it’s still not listed on Samsung’s US website), although expect to learn more about its launch schedule in the coming weeks. For now, the smartphone is expected to arrive in select regions on April 22nd. Here’s a closer look at the Galaxy A33:

Galaxy A33 5G Full Specifications

  • 6.4-inch display (Super AMOLED)

  • 90Hz refresh rate

  • 5G support

  • Available in four colors (Awesome Blue, Awesome Black, Awesome White and Awesome Peach)

  • Rear cameras: 48MP, 8MP, 2MP, 5MP

  • Front camera: 13MP

  • 5,000mAh battery (Two-day battery life)

  • IP67 water and dust-resistance

  • 6GB/8GB RAM

  • 128GB/256GB Storage (Up to 1TB microSD card)

  • Android 12

The Galaxy A33 will start at £329. Its specs are quite impressive for that price tag, although we’ll have to wait and see which regions get an official launch. Just like the Galaxy A53, the Galaxy A33 will see four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.

What About the Galaxy A73 5G?

Samsung was rumored to show off the Galaxy A73 5G during March’s event, although it never made an appearance. However, it did get a mention in a post-conference press release:

“Another new addition to the Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A73 5G, will also be available in select markets on April 22.”

For now, it’s unclear which regions Samsung is targeting for an April launch.

The smartphone will boast a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display, 120Hz refresh rate and an IP67-rating for water and dust resistance. It’ll also feature the Snapdragon 778G chipset and a 108MP, 12MP, 5MP and 5MP rear camera setup. The front selfie camera is 32MP.

The Galaxy A73 5G is expected to launch in very limited regions, so it’s highly unlikely we’ll see it stateside.
