Enjoy the fall weather and water views on the Sanibel Public Library’s reading porch.

The screened-in porch is not only a fresh-air place for reading, it also provides a space for library patrons to get their work done, with access to stable high-speed WiFi.

The “Tech IT Out” service offers cardholders an easy way to borrow a Dell laptop or MacBook Air. Tech IT Out was a pilot project funded in part by the Sanibel Public Library Foundation years ago as part of its investment in innovative technology. The kiosk offers a choice of six Dell and six MacBook laptops. The Macs offer apps like Keynote, Google Chrome, FaceTime, and GarageBand, while the Dells have PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and even games like Mahjong.

The library also offers passes to the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples, and Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife’s Visitor Education Center. One pass per location may be reserved to check out with a library card. The loan period is one week. For more information or to place a hold, contact 239-472-2483.

The Book Sale Room has new fiction, coffee table books, magazines, CDs and young adult books. Most books are priced under $4. In the lobby, there is a $1 per book sale with bestseller fiction.

In addition, a Sanibel-Captiva Art League exhibit is on display at the library until Nov. 22. It includes artwork by members Gloria Krekel, Mary H. Klunk, Donna Filomio, Dave Tomkins and Carolyn Johns.

Stop by the library to play with the new digital board game table. The Infinity Game Table features digital versions of classic and iconic board games, like Hasbro’s Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, Yahtzee, puzzles, card games, coloring books, comic books, and more. Look for it near the puzzle area. Play with friends or try some of the one-player games.

Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge.

Visitor library cards are available for a $10 annual fee.

The Sanibel Public Library is open: Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
