TECH BYTE: Apps to Help You Save on Gas

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — We’re all feeling this pain at the pump right now.

There are some smartphone apps that can help you navigate these high gas prices, and save some money.

The GetUpside Cashback: Gas & Food app helps you save money, and earn some too!

You can use it to earn cash back on gas, groceries, and at certain restaurants.

The app works with more than 40,000 businesses, and the good news is there’s no limit to how much you can earn.

It works with other coupons, discounts, and loyalty programs you already use.

GetUpside creators says the app benefits both you, and the store you’re buying from.

Use it to get up to 25 cents a gallon cash back fueling up at more than 25,000 gas stations across the country, 45 percent cash back at 17,000 plus restaurants, and up to 30 percent cash back on groceries in select cities.

It’s easy to use. All you have to do is claim your offer through the app, pay as you normally would with your credit card, then check in, or take a picture of your receipt. You can cash out whenever you want.

If that still seems too complicated to use, then the GasBuddy app can also save you some money at the pump.

It finds the cheapest gas near you.

The app can even track your fuel use, which helps if someone owes you gas money.

You obviously don’t need a gas app if you drive an electric car. That’s what the PlugShare app is for.

It helps you find EV charging stations all over the world, leave reviews, and connect with other electric vehicle owners.

The app also makes it easy to check ahead of time if the charging station you want is available.

Other drivers also use it to leave tips, and you can share live updates too.

As long as gas prices remain high, it’s always good to know that these apps can help us save. It may seem small, but every little bit adds up.
