The Call of Duty: Vanguard campaign levels and achievements leak, providing a potential preview of what to expect when the game drops on November 5.
Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.
A known leaker claims to have revealed the locations of Call of Duty: Vanguard campaign levels and the game’s achievements, potentially providing a preview of the single-player campaign ahead of release. The eighteenth mainline installment of the Call of Duty franchise takes players back to World War II. And while the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta provided a sample of multiplayer gameplay, it was limited in scope compared to the features that will be available in the full game. Players were able to try out five maps and six playable game modes, but they’ve seen only snippets of the campaign so far.
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign was revealed in a recent storyline trailer. The story takes place during the height of World War II, in an alternative timeline in which the Nazis plan to establish a Fourth Reich. Players will take control of various characters that are working towards the end of the war, putting a stop to the Nazi regime before more lives are lost. While Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s story campaign has real-life influences such as historic battles and real-world soldiers, it is a fictional take on the war. The trailer revealed a lot of information, but Sledgehammer Games has kept many facets of the campaign from the public eye. That being said, this hasn’t stopped leakers from trying to get a sneak peek.
Twitter leaker Alaix COD has possibly revealed several Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign level titles and list of achievements in a recent string of tweets, all of which are still viewable at the time of writing. The images show a comprehensive, but likely non-exhaustive, list of achievements from the campaign and multiplayer game modes. Additionally, the leaker unveiled the names of the campaign levels, such as “The Battle of Midway,” “The Battle of El Alamein,” and “The Fourth Reich.”
Some of the leaked achievements are common to the Call of Duty series, such as completing the campaign on Veteran difficulty. Most of the achievements are unique to the game’s story, with challenges that seem to link directly to the campaign. For example, the “Untouchable” achievement allegedly requires players to “avoid getting hit by the sniper” in the “Numa Numa Trail,” the real-world site of the Pacific War’s Battle of Piva Forks. 31 campaign achievements seem to have been revealed, but the leaker suggests there may be more when the game fully releases in November.
It’s important to note that neither Sledgehammer Games nor Activision have acknowledged or confirmed the leak so far. The fact that it hasn’t been taken down could suggest the the information provided is dated, incomplete, or incorrect. If the leak is accurate, though, the achievements do provide some new insights into Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign. The Battle of Midway took place in the air and sea, so if Vanguard depicts it accurately, players may be piloting and/or captaining vehicles during this section of the game. The leaked list of campaign levels possibly uncovers many elements of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s storyline, but the information shouldn’t be readily believed until confirmed by new pre-release materials or by the game’s launch contents.
