Early on as you explore the Lands Between, you may come across certain types of white flowers called Grave Glovewort or Ghost Glovewort. These materials are primarily found underground, and unlike regular crafting materials, they aren’t used to make items. Instead, they are used to enhance the abilities of Spirit Ash Summons – if you know how.

The ability to summon spirits only happens with the Spirit-Calling Bell, given by Ranni the Witch when you fast travel to the Church of Elleh after getting Torrent (or buying them from the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold). However, as you are, you won’t be able to upgrade Spirit Ashes.

Once you’ve delved into Stormveil Castle, and met Roderika outside the castle at the Stormhill Shack, she’ll go to the Roundtable Hold. Eventually, she’ll being to wonder about her purpose after you defeat Godrick the Grafted, and by talking to both her and the Blacksmith Master Hewg, Hewg will teach her the art of Spirit Tuning.

At this point, you can bolster the abilities of all the Spirit Ashes you find by giving her Ghost Glovewort – or Grave Glovewort depending on the Spirit Ash, similar to increasing weapons with either Smithing Stones, or Somber Smithing Stones.

At their base level, Spirit Ashes can only deal so much damage and take so much punishment, but by bolstering them they’ll be more effective in later game areas.

Where to Find Ghost Glovewort and Grave Glovewort

Unlike Smithing Stones, Glovewort doesn’t seem to drop naturally from certain enemies or located on bodies in random parts of the world. Instead, Ghost and Grave Glovewort are primarily found in underground areas – Mini Dungeons, for the most part.

They bloom as small white flowers that stand out among the dim catacombs, but can only be picked once. They can also appear in greater numbers in the underground Eternal Cities located in the Siofra River Well and Ainsel River Well.

In order to find as many as possible, you’ll want to explore the Lands Between for all dungeon entrance – and see our Dungeon Guide to locate any you may have missed.

Since they are finite in number, you’ll need to think carefully about which Spirit Ashes you want to utilize the most in your journey – though you’ll tend to find a lot more of the lower level Gloveworts than you will higher tier ones.

There are also special items that will enhance a Spirit all the way to +10, and can be found in each of the Eternal Cities.

Much like Smithing Stones, there is a way to purchase certain levels of Glovewort to help level up your spirits by a few points. They come from specific Bell Bearings that have been lost in the world, and when returned to the Twin Maiden Husks, she’ll add unlimited purchases to her shop.

To get the Glovewort Picker’s Bell Bearing 1, head to the Altus Plateau by way of the Grand Lift of Dectus or the Ruin-strewn Precipice near it, and seek out the Wyndham Catacombs that are found at the edge of Mt Gelmir, behind the Wyndham Ruins on a western plateau against a cliff wall. Defeat the Erdtree Burial Watchdog boss within to get the Bell Bearing as a reward.

  • This Bearing will add the Grave Glovewort 1 (800 Runes), Grave Glovewort 2 (1,200 Runes), and Grave Glovewort 3 (1,600 Runes) to the Twin Maiden Husks shop in unlimited quantities.

To get the Ghost-Glovewort Picker’s Bell Bearing 1, head into the giant hole in the ground in East Limgrave following the defeat of Starscourge Radahn to enter Nokron the Eternal City. Right past the first Site of Grave is a large courtyard with a central gazebo that has a body that holds the bell bearing.

  • This Bearing will add the Ghost Glovewort 1 (1,200 Runes), Ghost Glovewort 2 (1,800 Runes), and Ghost Glovewort 3 (2,400 Runes) to the Twin Maiden Husks shop in unlimited quantities.
