FF7R Intergrade Comes To PC Via Epic Store Next Week

Square Enix revealed during The Game Awards 2021 that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store on December 16.

Square Enix revealed during The Game Awards 2021 that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store on December 16. FF7 Remake was one of the biggest PS4 exclusives of 2020, and it received a PS5 upgraded port in 2021, in the form of Intergrade, which included new DLC content, starring Yuffie from FF7.

FF7 Remake was announced at Sony’s conference during E3 2015, where it was revealed that fans could play it first on PS4. This established early on that it wouldn’t be a console exclusive, as the original one had been on the PlayStation. A sticker on the box for the game confirmed that it would be a PS4 exclusive for at least a year. A year passed and FF7 Remake didn’t make the jump to any other systems, nor PC. It was speculated that Sony was able to extend its exclusivity with the Intergrade version.

The time has finally come for Cloud Strife’s new adventure to leave the PlayStation line of systems. It was revealed during The Game Awards 2021 that FF7 Remake Intergrade is coming to PC, exclusively on the Epic Games Store, on December 16. A trailer for the PC version of Intergrade has since been uploaded to the official Square Enix YouTube channel, showing the high-definition RPG action that players have come to expect from the game.

Coming hot on the heels of the initial release, Intergrade contains an upgraded version of FF7 Remake, which includes different graphical modes, a Photo Mode, and faster load times. Intergrade also contained a brand new DLC chapter, starring Yuffie from FF7, which takes place during the events of FF7 Remake. The Yuffie chapter ends with a tie-in to the upcoming sequel to FF7 Remake and ends on a huge cliffhanger that drastically changes the course of the original story.

It was inevitable that FF7 Remake would leave the PlayStation line of systems. It’s not that surprising that Epic would want the game exclusively on its platform, as the company managed to do the same with the PC versions of the Kingdom Hearts series. It can’t have been cheap to buy PC exclusivity for FF7 Remake Intergrade, but it was a huge success on PlayStation systems, and it’s a remake of one of the most iconic JRPGs of all time, so there is value to be had by keeping it one platform. Sony must have believed so as well, if it fought to have the game as an exclusive on their system for over a year. The question now is whether FF7 Remake Intergrade will make the jump to Xbox systems, or to Nintendo Switch, via a cloud version.
