Xiaomi is believed to be working on a new Redmi-branded smartphone. The electronics maker is hosting a launch event on September 15 during which it will unveil the Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro while the new Redmi smartphone might be introduced on a later date. The new smartphone is tipped to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and a 6.7-inch large screen with full-HD+ resolution.

The specifications of the phone have been leaked by Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station. The leak claims that the phone will feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with full-HD+. The display will have support for 120Hz refresh rate. It will also be powered by Snapdragon 870 SoC which has been the go-to chipset for most affordable premium smartphones this year.

The smartphone is tipped to come with a 50-megapixel main camera. The other features of the phone may include a 100W fast charging, dual speakers, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

Xiaomi is yet to officially announce or tease the smartphone. However, it is tipped to be part of the Redmi K50 series. To recall, the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro were launched earlier this year. These smartphones were brought to India as the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro. The company had also added a Gaming Edition of the Redmi K40 in China and it was introduced in India as the Poco F3 GT.

The Redmi K50 series may include three models in total Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50+.

Meanwhile, the smartphone maker is also believed to be working on a Redmi K40 Ultra model as well. The new variant is expected to be powered by an unspecified MediaTek SoC. It may come with 20:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to be equipped with a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM2 primary sensor, a Sony IMX355 wide-angle sensor, and a telemacro sensor with a 3X zoom.

We should expect to hear more about the upcoming smartphones from Xiaomi in the coming days. It will also be interesting to see if and how many of these devices are introduced in India.
