Square Enix launched “Final Fantasy 7” on the original PlayStation gaming console in 1997. The title was a huge success, even making the “Final Fantasy” franchise a household name.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Square Enix shared a message from Tetsuya Nomura, who designed the characters for the original game, and is now working as the creative director of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake.” In the message, Nomura expressed his gratitude for the love and passion fans have shown for the game. He also teased the upcoming projects related to “Final Fantasy 7.”
“And there will be even more new FFVII projects that started up after the remake coming in future too. The team see this 25th anniversary as a waypoint on our journey with FFVII, and will continue pressing ahead to even greater things, so please keep supporting us going forward,” Nomura said.
Yoshinori Kitase, the original director of “Final Fantasy 7,” also shared a special message for the game’s fans, noting that he intends to reveal the first details of the remake’s sequel during the classic game’s anniversary.
“We are hard at work on Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, so please look forward to that. In addition, with regards to the long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake [Part 2]… there will be more information… this year if we can,” he said.
Unfortunately, there was no mention of the possible release window of “Final Fantasy 7 Part 2.” But with the executives’ latest statements, it is safe to assume that this piece of information may come out this year.
“Final Fantasy 7 Remake” was released in April 2020, and fans can enjoy it on PC, PS4 and PS5.
Meanwhile, Square Enix has also been rumored to be preparing for the release of “Final Fantasy 16.” Its official announcement is expected to take place his year.
