Total War: Warhammer 3 coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC in February

Total War: Warhammer 3 is the end of a big fantasy strategy trilogy on the PC, with six factions duking it out over big battlegrounds. We now know that the game is set to launch on Feb. 17, 2022, and it will be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC on day one.

The premise of the game is that an endless horde of daemons and monsters are pouring forth from the Realm of Chaos, which is bad news for everyone involved. The player takes control of the armies and lords fighting back Chaos, with some appealing options on display like the Cathay, a fantasy China analogue, and the Russia-inspired Kislev. It leads to fantastic looking battles, with armored bears and dragon lords taking on monsters in the teal-and-pink horror landscape of the Chaos Realms.

There are some cool additions to the usual strategy formula, like boss battles in the campaign mode, and some changes to the way sieges work. Players who pre-order the game or purchase it during its first week will also get the Ogre Kingdoms as a free DLC addition; otherwise, fans will have to pay for the big boys join the fun.

There will be additional announcements for add-ons and other content as we come up on the February release, but the game’s presence on Xbox Game Pass means it’ll be relatively easy to give Total War: Warhammer 3 a spin. The developer also intends to bring the game to Mac and Linux “as close to launch day as possible,” but the exact date has yet to be revealed.
